I've had my HappyVappy for about 3 yrs, used intermittently for the first 2 yrs and more frequently in the past year. The last 3 times I've turned it on, a bit of whitish smoke rises from the top after it gets hot and before I put anything in it.
The first time I noticed it, I went ahead and used it anyway and didn't notice much difference from normal. I thought maybe it was just dust or something. It started smoking again tonight, so I cleaned it very thoroughly with a few swabs and some alcohol (holding it upside down so nothing would seep in). It's clean as a whistle now, but still smokes when I turn it on.
Any ideas? Should I be concerned? |

In general it is best to contact us directly concerning questions regarding your HappyVappy. It is not all that easy to address your concerns with the information you have provided in your post, but i will give it a shot. The smoke you are seeing is probably some residue vaporizing deeper in the core than just the bowl area. The best measure to know that your HappyVappy is operating correctly is to take note of the colour of the spent herb. If it is a toasted dark brown and not black your HV is working just fine. The other thing to note is, if the vapor produced by the unit dispates into the air quickly it is not smoke you are seeing, but vapor. If you have ever walked into a smoke filled room you know the differance compared to a room where a HappyVappy is being used. I hope I have address your concerns, if not please feel free to contact us via email at service@happyvappy.com or toll free at 1-888-ohvappy.

Sounds like you have a heavy buildup of resin, nothing to concern yourself with.
A few dabs of alcohol will not clean the basin, it will take more than a few minutes and a dozen q-tips if you've been using it heavily for years, and especially since you have such a buildup of resin. |
